We just passed in Committee!
Well, it is an exciting day for all Texas hobbyists- we are one step closer to legalizing home distilling as a hobby. The Committee on Licensing and Administrative Procedures met today, and as their first order of business they took up pending business. The Committee voted, and our bill passed 9-3 without amendment, so it was referred to the full House to go to the floor for a vote. We do not know yet when that will be, but keep an eye on our Facebook page, as we will post there as soon as we know, and, of course, will report back as soon as our bill is heard and voted on.
Just remember- now is not the time to sit back and wait! Reach out to your state Representative and tell them that you want them to back this bill! Big business is against it, so we must let our elected officials know that their voters want this bill passed. Let’s get this done, Texas!

Congratulations! I’m curious from another angle. Do you have a list of distillers who have been supportive of the hobby movement or conversely, those who have lobbied against hobby distillers?
I do not have a list of distilleries that have specifically come out against legalization of hobby distilling. It was primarily distributors, etc., that filed as against our bill when it was in Committee.
