We Passed in the House

WE ARE ONE STEP CLOSER, TEXAS!
It has been a very long few days for our representatives, but our bill finally made it to the floor and passed- 104 to 32 (second reading) and 115 to 24 (third reading).

The next step? The Texas Senate! Our bill needs to get to the Senate Committee, and, providing it passes in Committee, on to the Senate floor for a final vote. Time is running short, so we need you to reach out to your state Senator (not your federal Senators- Sen. Cornyn and Sen. Cruz), but your state Senator. Tell them that you want them to support HB 2278, and ask that they help get it through the process before the end of the legislative session.
Do not just hope for this to pass- make sure that your Senator knows that you want the right to distill spirits at home for personal use, just as you can currently make your own beer or wine. This is not about selling, it is about enjoyment of the next natural step in the hobby of home brewing and winemaking.
We have never been this close, Texas! Let’s see this through!

Thank you to all who have e-mailed. The bill has been sent to the Senate. Lets just hope there is still time to get it done!
Seems like nothing has happened since the senate received the bill and there is likely only one day remaining.
Unfortunately, there was just not enough time after we passed in the House to get through the Senate Committee and Senate floor, so our bill died. We did make it far further than any previous attempt, and the vote in the House shows how much support we have. We will look for a state where they will continue to be in session between now and the 2026 election, and then gear up with our representative in Texas to reintroduce as soon as they go back in session here in Texas.
