Despite our best efforts, there was not time to get our bill passed
First off, we would like to thank everyone in Texas that put in that extra effort to help get our bill so close to passing. The fight is not over- it is just delayed now until the next election, in November of 2026! We are already working with our representative to discuss re-introducing the bill in the next session. As much of the work has already been completed, it should hopefully move much more quickly through the process next time.
Our next step? We will be comparing our member list against states where home hobby distilling is not legal, and where the state legislature remains in session. We are not planning to just sit idly by while we wait for Texas to open up again. We will keep you updated here and on Facebook as we continue to fight for our goals of legalizing home distilling, both federally and in all states.

Sad that it has to wait until next election in Texas. 🙁
Agreed. As we near that time we will be reminding all of our members in Texas to start reaching out to their Rep. and Sen. to urge their support on the bill. In the meantime we will stay in touch with our representative about re-introducing the bill as soon as allowed in the next session.
Definitely not legal here in Mississippi. Illegal to even own a still with rare exceptions. Would love to change that but probably not in my lifetime. Not even sure where to start.
Mississippi is on our radar, as they meet each year, albeit for a very limited time.
Any chance for a Special Session Hearing?
Not for our little bill, I’m afraid.
Thanks. Let me know if I can ever help. I don’t mind getting involved to further the hobby.
Thank you!
South Carolina!
Is there help for someone trying to get a license to start a distillery in Texas? I can’t afford a 20 thousand lawyer. My operation will be a 1000 square foot building. Start small and probably stay small. I just need help with info. Please anyone.
The HDA is focused on hobbyists, but contact us at Brewhaus (https://brewhaus.com) and we may be able to offer some advice.
We still have Dry Counties in Alabama. Probably won’t ever happen here.
