HDA Distilling Logbook is Here!

Introducing the HDA Distilling Logbook

One of our goals at the Hobby Distillers Association is to provide our members with tools and resources that are actually useful to them. Today, we are adding a new benefit for our Supporting, Business, and Lifetime members: the HDA Distilling Logbook.

Anyone who has been distilling for any length of time knows how important good records can be. A small change in a recipe, fermentation, cut, or aging process can make a noticeable difference in the finished spirit. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to remember exactly what you did months—or even years—later.  Paper logs can be messy, scratching out and re-writing as you make changes.  And, going back and finding a specific recipe later can be a hassle.

The new Distilling Logbook gives you one place to keep all of that information, keep your recipes updated, and quickly search for previous recipes when you want to make them again.

For each batch, you can record your complete recipe and procedure, fermentation and specific gravity readings, distillation information, temperatures, cuts, aging and finishing information, and more. You can also add tasting notes over time, allowing you to follow how a spirit develops as it ages.

Your batches can be updated whenever you want, and completed batch records can be downloaded as a PDF for your own files, for those who like to keep a physical logbook.

Your Recipes Stay Private

We know that some HDA members are developing recipes they may eventually use commercially, while others simply don’t want their recipes shared.

Your Distilling Logbook is private to your account. Your recipes, procedures, run data, cuts, tasting notes, and other information are not shared with other HDA members.

In the future, we plan to add an option that will allow members to voluntarily share individual recipes with the HDA community. Whether or not you share something will always be your choice.

Available Now

The HDA Distilling Logbook is available now as an added benefit for all paid HDA members.

If you are an eligible member, log into your HDA account and select Distilling Logbook from the My Account menu to get started.

We have more exciting things coming your way as the Hobby Distillers Association community continues to grow, so keep watching for more announcements.
